Dear Sir or Madame,

On August 11, 2011 I flew on a $525 round trip Continental/United flight from Houston to San Francisco prior to which I paid $25 to check in one bag. During the 3 1/2 hour flight, which originated at 1:00 PM, I had the unnatural urge for sustenance and I willingly paid $8.00 for the worst cheeseburger ever conceived and brought into being in annals of not just human history, not the history of earth herself, not since the moment preceding the Big Bang but dating to a time before creation was a mere thought in the mind of God.

The only thing that gave me comfort as I struggled to undo the cheese-stricken paper wrapper of the freshly microwaved burger while grappling with the giant rectangular plastic container of its accruements, the combination of which did not fit on my down-right positioned tray table and whose carcass I was unable to convince the flight attendant to accept as trash – the only thing, and I pause at this moment to catch my breath and wipe the beginnings of a tear from the corner of my right eye, was the knowledge that United had finally completed painting all its airplanes with a new logo.

Regards,

Saman Ahmadi
